This is almost identical to a rental with the same monthly options and terms to choose from. The difference is that a "lease" has a fixed residual (or buyout figure) written into the contract and accordingly the repayments are slightly more expensive.

A residual figure is a fixed percentage of the total value of the goods. For example, you choose to make Lease a system over 48 months with a 10% residual figure.

At the end of the elected term you can choose to:

• Hand the system back to the finance company.
• Choose to enter into a new lease agreement for a system upgrade.
• Pay out the selected residual figure to the finance company and take direct ownership of the equipment.

This is where a phone carrier puts your phone system on their phone bill and uses genuine call savings to offset the monthly charges. The bottom line is that you may end up with a system for nothing!

Be CAREFUL. There are some unscrupulous operators that:

• Lock you in to 5 year phone call contracts.
• Impose minimum call spends so you waste money during quiet months.
